Day 1: Depending on your arrival-time, we stay one night in Negombo (at the beach) or we start our tour directly from the Airport.
We will drive approximately 80km to Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage and see how a herd of elephants moves for a bath to the river Maha Oya. The perfect time for this would be between 10-12am or 2-4pm. If you like, we can also visit the Orphanage, where you can see how the baby elephants get fed.
(If you dont like to see Pinnawela, we can alternativ visit the Ridi Viharaya Temple built under a rock in a huge park.)
After our lunch we will continue to Dambulla, where we visit the Dambulla Cave Temple. You have to walk about 15 minutes 360 steps up to the caves. But it's worth doing it. You will be overwhelmed from the mystical feeling in this place.
The five separate caves contain over 150 Buddha images and statues, some dating back 2000 years. Take your time and enjoy being here.
After our first mystical experience, we transfer to Sigiriya, where we will spend our first two nights. On the way we will stop whenever you would like to take pictures.
Day 2: Next morning we will visit the Sigiriya Lion Rock. It is Sri Lanka's most recognizable landmark, and also one of the major archaeological sites in the country. Today, Sigiriya is a UNESCO listed World Heritage site. To climb this rock to the top you should be in a good condition. Many tourists stop at the Lion Gate, because they are already exhausted. After the Lion Gate the steps become really steep and the space to climb the rock gets narrow!
Now you can relax for about one and a half hours while I drive you to Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa was the second capital of Sri Lanka after the destruction of Anuradhapura. This is a huge area full of temples and ancient buildings with monkeys playing around. If you like to cycle, it’s ideal to explore the place on a bicycle.
In the evening we will drive back to Sigiriya.
Day 3: Next day we are driving to Kandy. On the way we will visit Nalanda Gedige. The architecture includes Hindu elements and Tantric Buddhist carvings.
If we have time and you not yet had enough of temples, on the way we can also visit Aluvihara Rock Temple.
Kandy is a major tourist destination, also known as the cultural capital of Sri Lanka. The most important holy place in Sri Lanka is the tooth temple of Kandy, which contains the relic of the tooth of the Buddha.
In the evening we have the possibility to see a traditional Kandy dance.
Day 4: Next morning we will visit the Botanical Garden Peradeniya and later we are driving farther up to the mountains passing Ramboda Waterfall. We will see a lot of teaplantations and enjoy a cup of tea after the visit of a teafactory. Overnight we stay in Nuwara Eliya at 1800 meters above sea level.
Day 5: One of the highlights of your journey is waiting for us next morning: We get up early and go for a walk in Horton Plains to worlds end, where we have a fantastic view to the mountains. In the afternoon you have the possibility to ride by train through the teaplantations to Ella. Ella is a small mountain village, where we stay for the night.
Day 6: From Ella we leave the mountains to finish our roundtour with a Safari either in Udawalawe National Park or Yale Nationalpark (you can choose). On the way we will visit Buduruwagala rock temple dating back to the ninth or 10th century. It consists seven ancient Buddhist figures carved into the rock.
Day 7: Early mornig we go on Safari in one of the Nationalparks you have chosen. In Udawalawe we could also visit the Elephant Transit home.
After the Safari we will get breakfast and we will drive to your hotel at the beach between Tangalle and Galle. On the way we will visit Dickwella temple.
I can give you suggestions for the hotelrooms, or even book the rooms for you. If you are booking your room yourself, be sure there is driver accomodation in the hotel, if not please book a room also for the driver (in this case you have to pay this room aswell).

Day 1: Depending on your arrival-time, we stay one night in Negombo (at the beach) or we start our tour directly from the Airport to Anuradhapura.
It will take us approximately 5-6 hours including photo-stopps.
There are two possibilyties to get to Anuradhapura. We can drive along the coast until Puttalam or we drive inland over Kurunegala.
Day 2: We visit the ancient city. In the afternoon we drive to Mihintale, where we probably see a beautiful sunset from the rock.
Day 3: We transfer to Sigiriya, where we will spend our next two nights. On the way we will visit the Ritigala Forest and Monastry, after that we drive to Aukana Statue and Kala Wewa lake.
Day 4: Next morning we will visit the Sigiriya Lion Rock. It is Sri Lanka's most recognizable landmark, and also one of the major archaeological sites in the country. Day 11: From Ella we leave the mountains for the next highlight on our roundtour: Safari either in Udawalawe National Park or Yale Nationalpark. On the way we will visit Buduruwagala rock temple dating back to the ninth or 10th century. It consists seven ancient Buddhist figures carved into the rock.
