"I will never forget my great trip with Romesh"! Romesh picked me up at the hotel in Colombo just in time. From January 7th 2020 to January 13th 2020 we visited Anuradhapura, Mihintale, Sigiriya, Dumballa, Polonnarwa, Kalkudah and finally Ella. In these 7 days I was able to get to know Sri Lanka from its most beautiful sides through Romesh's good preparation and planning. The selected hotels were very pleasant and the food was always a sensational experience. After the end of the tour I experienced a 14-day Ayurveda cure in Talalla and finally Romesh drove me to the airport in Colombo.
So you should look for a tour in Sri Lanka with a knowledgeable, English-speaking and cheerful driver - my first choice and recommendation - Bernd T. from Germany

We, couple with 16 years old son from Munich, had a great 2 weeks round trip in Srilanka. Romesh, our driver has looked after us excellently from the first minute. Many travelers have already reported a lot of positives about Romesh. We can confirm everything. We would like to add that Romesh excellently knows how to strike the balance between distance and engagement. We also met his daughter during our trip and his wife cooked roasted lentils for us. Very nice.

We made a trip from 17.2. to 3.3.2019 with Romesh .
Romesh was the best guide we met on our many trips.
Not only was he an excellent driver and guide, some additional problems we had would not have been solvable without him:
Monika hospitalization for a suspected pneumonia: with the added help of the wife of Romesh, we were able to keep the sequence in the hospital's overcrowded waiting room in reasonable time.
A employee of a Hotel did stolen us during departure a larger amount of money and our credit cards. Romesh managed that the hotel refunded us$ 800 and that the credit cards were found.
Romesh did organize a seat on the train from Eliya to Ella. The train was sold out for a long time before. We did have no chance for a seat reservation . Romesh hired a specialist who squeezed into the wagon before the passengers could get out and reserved us 2 seats. Without this help, we would have had to stand for 4 hours without the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscape and take pictures.
Romesh was not only our guide, but also our friend.

my friend and I were last December/November on a roundtrip through Sri Lanka. It was very beautiful and funny. Anees, our driver and guide, is really competent and funny. It was a good mix.
We have seen a lot of beautiful nature, interesting tempels like Kandy, Sigiriya, Ella, Galle the amazing National Park in the south. I can say, I felt in love with Sri Lanka.
The roundtrip was perfect organized. Not stress in the transfers. Really nice hotels with sometimes incredible views.

We will give our best recommendations! We had 14 amazing days in Sri Lanka with a nice and safe guide Anees who told and taught us alot about Sri Lanka.
Our tour program was modified to our needs before the tour and also during the tour. Our highlights was elephant safari in Dambulla, lion rock (Sigiriya), Adam's peak, Yala and temples in Anuradhapura.
We looked for many tours on the web before booking, and could not find any who could match the price and service as good as srilanka-roundtrip.com <http://srilanka-roundtrip.com> . We will give 5 stars out of 5!! We hope to return to Sri Lanka again.

We just came back from a 19 days round trip in beautiful Sri Lanka. Before we left, I was searching for a company to arrange a tour for us, and I found Romesh. What a luck.
Romesh planned a perfect tour for us, listening to the wishes, we had. We saw nature, culture, the sea, and everywhere he found us good places to spend the night.
The car was good, comfortable and always kept very clean - and we had the best driver, you can get in Sri Lanka. Jiffry is his name, and he became not just our driver, he became our friend.
Not only is he a very good driver, who does not take any risks, he is also a person, who understands, what his customers want. Besides that he speaks good English, he has a good sense of humour, and most important he is a very friendly and nice person.
So all in all: We can not recommend Romesh's company enough. He and the persons working for him will do their best to make your round trip in Sri Lanka a good and memorable one.

My boyfriend and I decided this year to travel to Sri Lanka to make a roundtrip. After checking the Internet we saw the Homepage from Romesh.
We wrote him an Email with a few questions. Immediately he answered all our questions and he dispelled all the doubts. After our conversations we decided to book the trip via Romesh and it was one of our best decisions.
After arriving at the airport in Colombo we were so excited. We didn’t know if our guide will be there. There is so much going through our mind: Are the people in Sri Lanka committed? Yes! They are!
We walked outside the airport and there was Jeffrey. The best driver ever. He held a sign in his hands with our names. So, from there we started our trip with him. 6 days through Sri Lanka. 1st Day we stayed in a really nice Home Stay in Negombo and relaxed at the beach after our long journey. From the 2nd day we started our journey with a lot of impressions. We saw Waterfalls, Mountains, the wonderful Beach. We taste the local food, met local people and had a wonderful relationship to our driver and friend Jeffrey. It was a pleasure to meet him. We enjoyed the journey and conversations with him. We learned so many things about the people in Sri Lanka and their traditional game “Criquet”. We felt like family.
Our journey was perfect organized by Romesh and Jeffrey put this perfectly in action. We are so thankful for our time in Sri Lanka. It was a fantastic trip and we can recommend them.

We like to put our trips together individually. Ranging from the sights, right up to the hotel we want to chose everything on our own.
When we found the offer of Romesh during our internet research, we were very excited. Is it possible to put a trip together individually and still rely on an experienced guide? Without a pre-packaged holiday with crowded buses? Yes! This is precisely what Romesh offers on his website! It was absolutely stress free. It will be taken care of everything, and the journey has still its individual character!
We planned our trip and sent Romesh a list of the sights that we wanted to see - Romesh has provided his experiences and recommendations, which was very helpful. The hotels were booked as suggested by Romesh - all excellent accommodation!
In addition to the planning and booking process we also want to highly reccomend our guide Anees. You will agree with us, if you have heard of the traffic in Sri Lanka - driving by yourself here is pure stress! Nothing for Europeans! Anees is a very good driver. In addition he knows the country and the people. We have learned a lot about Sri Lanka, the culture and nature. One feels safe and in good hands with Anees.
Because of bad weather we had to change our itinerary spontaneously, what he solved very competent and according to our wishes. Communication with Anees was in English and was no problem for us. We are very glad to have had him as our driver.
We had such a lovely and memorable time in Sri Lanka. In any case, we will give 5 of 5 stars and recommend the offer to others!

After we arrived we spent a night at a hotel in Colombo where we got a pickup by Romesh the next morning. He is a super friendly and very warm Person with a white Toyota minivan, which offered more space for us two then we needed. We had many beautiful moments together with Romesh, he even showed and explained the temple to us although it was like his thousands time. He had almost anywhere super cute and super good contacts. For the evening, he knew the best restaurants where we liked to invite him.
We were a total of 11 days on the road with him and spend an unplanned twelfth day with him. In addition, we were invited to a dinner at his house where we were welcomed warmly. It was a nice feeling to be so welcome and thanks Romesh we experienced an unforgettable vacation.
One thing is for sure in a few years we will travel back to Sri Lanka and take a tour with Romesh!

We wanted to have a special holiday after my girlfriend finished the univsersity so we choosed Sri Lanka as our favourite spot. After some research about roundtrip guides for Sri Lanka we found the page of Romesh and his friends. So we contacted Romesh for a roundtrip and got a very fast response with a first tour suggestion. After some more mails the final plan for one week roundtrip and one week beach rest was completed. The contact with Romesh was very fast, reliable and professional and we were very excited to travel to Sri Lanka.
After arriving at Sri Lanka Anees (a friend of Romesh) picked us up at the airport and we started our tour. Anees was very kind to us and satisfied all of our wishes. He also had a lot of hints and recommendations for us and we felt very safe all the time. In the week of the roundtrip we visited the most important spots on Sri Lanka and got a great overview of the people and the culture. Some days we had some real sri-lankan food (not the american / european food which were served at the most hotels) and it was really good and very cheap as well ;-) BUT spicy :-) The recommended hotels on the roundtrip were also good. Some hotels were not very clean but it was ok.
After a really really nice week with a lot of impressions Anees brought us to our final hotel at Welligama (Ereliya Villas & Gardens) for the beach rest which we have booked on our own and which was very amazing.
During the last week at the beach Aness invited us to his home at Galle. There he showed us all important spots with his own Tuk-Tuk and invited us to a dinner with his family which was very great too. All the people were very kind and peaceful.
On the last day another driver of Romesh brought us to our final hotel near the airport for the last night and after 14 amazing days we left this beatiful country to go back to Germany.
Overall it was a great experience which we will never forget in our life. We would also like to recommend Anees! We had a great time together and a lot of fun. He showed us so much interesting spots and recommended us a lot of activities which we wouldn't have done without his recommendation. To invite us to his home and to meet his family meant very much to us.
If we should travel to sri lanka again we would definetely choose Romesh and Anees again.

I asume that if you read the guestbook on this site you probaly have decided to visit Sri Lanka.
An excellent choice.
We a family of 4 did the same and we didn`t regret it at all. Sri Lanka is a fantastic country with a very large variation in nature and sights and beautifull people.
What is the best way to visit Sri Lanka? Whitout doubt with a private driver. We did, and it was a fantastic tour. After spending many hours searching on the web we dicided to contact Romesh.
At first we were a little bit nervous, because of all the scam on the internet. But Romesh has without doubt been the best choice for us. He is verry helpfull to plan the tour after our wishes, book the hotels , rent bikes, plan the rafting trip , he bought all the entrance tickets for the sights , was our lokal bank, and maybe most important off alle our local guide.
If yoy are intersted he will tell you all about the history of the country, the food, the best places to eat or buy souveniers.
At the end of each day we discussed what was on the program for the the next day.
We had a fantastic tour ! We can higly recomend for Romesh to plan your trip to Sri Lanka, and he will be a safe and truthfull driver and friend.

In January and February 2015 we spent our honeymoon in Sri Lanka. Thanks to Anees we had a perfect time in this beautiful and lovely country! We did a seven-days tour with Anees. Afterwards we spent some time in historic Galle, at the beach in Balapitiya and in the capital Colombo.
During our tour we did a lot of sightseeing and driving. Anees is a very calm driver and we felt very safe in his clean and comfy van. He told us a lot about his country and we very much enjoyed his insider tips (lunch at local street restaurants, road stops for a king coconut, tasting a lot of exotic fruits and seeing even more exotic animals). The people we met during our trip were so welcoming that we often felt like coming to the home of old friends.
The best experience during our trip was our stay in Galle where - after finishing our roundtrip - we met with Anees again. He showed us Galle in his family tuk-tuk, especially where to buy a sari. :-) Afterwards we were invited to his family's home where we spent a fantastic evening with delicious dinner prepared by his family. Later all women of his family helped me put on my new sari which ended with a lot of laughter and some fantastic pictures. It was a unique evening for us! We so much enjoyed Anees' and his family's hospitality!
We highly recommend the tour with Sri Lanka Roundtrip with Romesh and Anees! It was an unforgettable experience. We will definitely come back to Sri Lanka. Thank you! We hope to see you again!

We absolutely agree with all other guestbook comments so far. Arrangement and tour assistance were of first-class quality. It was an individual tour and Romesh shared his own experiences with us while we watched lizards along the way, a spontaneous elephant shower or visiting him at his place.
Well, we made a round trip. Having scheduled about three weeks for it we had no pressure and enough time for recovering.
The tour started in Negombo – Anuradhapura (1. capital city) – Dambulla – Polonnaruwa (2. capital), Kandy - Nuwara Eliya – Ella - Yala West National Park and led us to Dalaw+ella, to Amal's guesthouse marvellously located at the beach and run by very nice hosts. We stayed there a little longer than usual.
You can easily find out more about activities offered in the above mentioned places in every guide book, so I'll rather describe the arrangement of such a tour in terms of getting in touch with Romesh and the kind of assistance during such a trip. This might help to not being afraid of opening up to a stranger.
We were looking online for an individual round trip through Sri Lanka and soon we came across Romesh's website. First we were unsure whether to trust a stranger being the guide and thought about sticking to a contract-based offer. Still we contacted him and only a few hours later we received a response. A good sign!
And then everything went very fast. We let him know our expectations and he worked out a detailed schedule. Something I'd really like to mention: he doesn't give you a total sum but lets you know the prices in detail (accomodation, entrance fees, guides, gas, etc.) so you are always well informed. Plus he doesn't claim advanced payment. The risk is on his side.
We also wondered where the guide spends his free time and whether we had to be with him all the time. No, we did not!! It is perfectly arranged. The guides usually stay in the same accomodations but in individual spaces and they get their own treatment. So we had enough time to spend with one another. However, we liked Romesh a lot and he always had something interesting to tell, so we spent a lot of time with him even during his free time. So, no worries!
Normally, we talked about our plans for the following day and arranged a meeting time.

August 2014, An unforgettable family trip
We are a family with two children aged four years and ten months. In August and September 2014, we stayed for four weeks in Sri Lanka. Our tour took us from Negombo Kandy , Nuwara Eliya , Ella , Tissa , Tangalle , Mirissa , Unawatuna back to Negombo. Contrary to the recommendations of all the travel guides we have felt the rainy season to be very suitable to travel , especially with the children. Most places were pleasantly quiet, less tourists and the short rain showers did not matter to us.
Sri Lanka is really very suitable for traveling with kids. Hospitality, family-friendly, culture, nature and wildlife have inspired us. We would definitely choose Romesh again, when we return to Sri Lanka again. His good humour, reliable organization and especially his careful driving style and child-friendliness have made our trip perfect. Another plus: Romesh had a child seat for our youngest. Romesh was not just a driver taking us from one place to the other, moreover he showed us his country and told us many details. He knew the best and cleanest restaurants. He knew the right shops for our souvenirs. He managed to cheer up our children, even if they were tired. He gave us some quiet moments while eating, while he had a look after our kids.
Romesh considered our desired travel modules and then we agreed on the relevant tour for the day depending on the mood and condition of the children. So we could enjoy our family trip properly. The highlight of the trip were the safaris at the national parks of Yala and Bundula and our stay in Kandy.
We wish Romesh and his family all the best and hope for a “Wiedersehen” in Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lanka roundtrip, which was organized by Romesh, exceeded all our expectations. We count it to one of the best trips we’ve ever undertaken (and we are travelling a lot). Our roundtrip took about 14 days and presented us the breathtaking beauty and diversity of Sri Lanka. We stayed at beautiful beaches, saw huge waterfalls and vast tea fields, went through the deepest jungle, climbed mountains, visited cultural sightseeing, drove through nearly untouched nature by train, and so on. We’ve seen and experienced so much, which made our trip a big adventure.
During our trip we were always in good hands. Arnis, our driver, is a very patient and friendly man. He’s a reliable, well organized and an extremely helpful person. As a local he of course could give us good advises and told us a lot about Sri Lanka and its culture.
I can recommend this roundtrip to everyone who’s interested in experiencing Sri Lanka in an authentic way. The small travel agency is run by kind people, who are very keen to offer its travellers a good time. We are very thankful for this experience!

We've had a wonderful honeymoon in November 2013 guided by our driver Anees! Thanks to him we had a brilliant time in Sri Lanka with lots of sightseeing and some time at the beach.
After picking us up with a bright smile on his face at Colombo airport, his happy go lucky attitude made our days. Being roughly the same age (+/- 30), we got along easily and he told us a lot about the country and his daily life. The sometimes lengthy rides in his van with the super comfy seats passed quickly with good talk and music. In contrast to most other motorised Sri Lankans, he drove very conservatively and we always felt safe onboard.
The entire itinerary was very well planned - we didn't have to care about anything but always had the chance to make a short stop at the roadside to catch a picture of huge lizards crossing or to harvest fresh pepper from the tree.
On our last day, he invited us to his family's home which was an amazing experience. Thanks again for the delicious food! It was a unique opportunity to learn more about your beautiful home country and to take a dive into Sri Lankan culture.
If you are looking for the perfect time in Sri Lanka, Anees is your driver! You will enjoy the trip. THANKS!!!

Going to Sri Lanka with kids??
We happened to find Romesh in the internet and contacted him.
He offered a perfect package to us: Sightseeing to begin with and afterwards time to relax at a
wonderful beach.
When we had some difficulties on our planned flight from Dubai to Colombo, it was Romesh who
calmed us down and just reorganised our trip in an instant.
Finally arriving in Colombo Shanter, our driver and a friend of Romesh, awaited us at the airport
with a big smile on his friendly face.
He drove us carefully through chaotic traffic all over the island always explaining, translating,
making suggestions for places to visit and taking care of us. We felt more than comfortable and
safe. Especially for the children (11,15,17) this was the best and most relaxing way to explore the
island.
Romesh talked to Shanter a couple of times to reassure if everything was still fine. We were sad to
say goodbye after 12 days, because we had such a wonderful time.
We all hope to come back one day, of cause again organised by Romesh!!!

by snow and temperatures minus zero , we remember the wonderful time in Sri Lanka. The organization of our tour was exactly that , what we dreamed from. 10 days around-trip and then 6 days at the wonderful beach in Amal's guesthouse! The hotels were very nice, the daily program so, that we had time enough for breaks, we saw a lot, but we had also time to speak with the people, who gave good insights into the daily life of them. With Weera we had a wonderful driver, who was friendly, punctual and in all situations a very safe and carefully driver. Dear Romesh, thank you very much for the heartly and warm welcome in Sri Lanka. With you we had a very safe driver. You carried us around Sri Lanka and also took care about our dinner and snack places. We didn't expect our two weeks without stomachaches but you succeeded.

die zeit mit romesh war unbeschreiblich schön und wir freuen uns jetzt schon wieder wenn es heisst ferien in sri lanka und natürlich mit romesh.
nach einem langen flug holte uns ein strahlender romesh vom flughafen ab und brachte uns zu unserer ersten unterkunft wo wir ausruhen konnten und die details unserer reise mit ihm besprechen konnten. wir merkten sofort romesh spürte was wir wollten und so war es dann auch. die ganzen drei wochen führte er uns durch sri lanka nach unseren wünschen. Romesh erklärte uns die traditionen des landes, brachte uns an die bekannten plätze, aber auch entlegene orte voll idylle und einsamkeit hatten raum und platz. sri lanka erstaunte uns immer wieder mit seiner vielfalt von kultur und natur und den lieben menschen. nicht zu vergessen das wunderbare essen, ein herrlicher paradiesischer ort. die wahl der hotels entsprach voll unseren wünschen und wir freuten uns schon am morgen auf das hotel das romesh bei unserer nächsten destination ausgesucht hatte. unvergesslich sind all die ausflüge die er für uns organisert hat, wandern zu worlds end, safari, zugfahrt und so vieles mehr. danke auch an seine familie die uns mit offenen armen empfangen und seine frau die uns wunderbar bekochte, das lachen seiner kinder, es war einfach schön.
wir reisen viel und oft aber diese reise war etwas ganz besonderes und romesh hat einen grossen beitrag geleistet.

The trip was well organised and we enjoyed every day out of our 15 day trip. Asitha was very helpful, friendly and happy to accommodate all of our needs. He showed us all the different trees, plants we usually know only from pictures. As well as rare animals like a 2m varan, when Asitha stopped in a village... not to mention whales and the Yala Safari.

I would like to say a big thank you for the fantastic two weeks us four girls had in Sri Lanka. We had an amazing time which we will never forget. Your driver Asitha showed us the beauty of your country and we met so many lovely people, ate the best food, saw so many interesting things and were so lucky to have him as our driver. We always felt safe.
Asitha listened to our questions, needs and special requests and always tried his very best to accommodate us and make our holiday special.
We also very much appreciated how you contacted us regularly during our trip to make sure everything was going well.
We really enjoyed the food and it was great how Asitha took us to these truly Sri Lankan restaurants. I think we are all chili addicted now! :-) Since I got back home I have been cooking Sri Lankan cuisine at least once a week, we love it!
The Yala National Park camping was a major highlight of our tour. How lucky were we to see THREE leopards, a sloth bear, elephants, crocodiles, mongoose,jackal and many more wild animals.

Vom 18.03. bis zum 03.04.2012 waren wir auf Sri Lanka. Wir hatten von Anfang an eine Rundreise geplant, um all das nachzuholen, was wir damals durch die von den Tamilen ausgelösten Streitigkeiten auf unbestimmte Zeit verschoben hatten.
Wir, dass sind Bärbel und Peter, 58 Jahre. Wir hatten uns im Internet umgesehen und suchten eine individuelle Rundreise ohne weitere Touristen und einen vertrauensvollen Veranstalter. Wir hatten Romesh ausgewählt und ihm in einem Mail unsere Absichten beschrieben. Wir bekamen umgehend einen Reiseplan und Hotelangebote mit Alternativen. Als Fahrer und Guide haben wir mit Herrn P.W.P. Weeraman aus Galle (Onkel von Romesh) einen sehr guten Fahrer und kompetenten Guide gefunden, der einen sehr besonnenen und sicheren Fahrstil hat. Dies ist in Sri Lanka lebenswichtig, wir hatten den Eindruck, alle Busfahrer liefern sich täglich ein Rennen, - jeder gegen jeden - völlig egal was auch passiert!
Herr Weeraman war immer pünktlich zur verabredeten Zeit gekommen, meist war er schon vorher da und wartete auf uns. Er war immer sehr höflich und sehr hilfsbereit. Ob es sich um Geldwechsel zum besten Kurs, um die kurzfristige Suche nach einem Supermarkt oder die Empfehlung in einem Rotty-Straßenrestaurant ging. Beim selbständigen Kauf eines Old Special Arraks, haben wird gemerkt, dass wir auch unter seinem besonderen Schutz standen, den er bis dahin äußerst unbemerkt und diskret handhabte, der Verkäufer erstattete daraufhin 300 Rupies. Herr Weeraman führt eine korrekte Buchführung. Entgegen der Ursprungsrechnung, war ein Hotel billiger und ein Eintritt etwas teurer, so dass am Ende noch 10 US $ ausstanden. Im Vorfeld hatten wir die Hotelangebote im Internet gegen das Angebot geprüft. Wir hatten festgestellt, dass wir diese Übernachtungspreise in den gleichen Hotels nicht hätten erzielen können. Auch dafür herzlichen Dank.
An den meisten Tagen, starteten wir morgens zwischen 08:30 und 09:30 Uhr und nach den Tagesbesichtigungen waren wir zwischen 14:00 und 15:00 Uhr immer im Zielhotel. Herr Weeraman hatte die Etappen so gewählt und für uns hatte dies den absoluten Vorteil, dass man nicht in rasender Eile durch die antiken Stätten jagte, sondern neben den Besichtigungen auch die Erholung einen realen Platz fand.
Im Angebot waren neben den mittel- und luxiriösen Hotels auch Amals Guesthouse am Strand von Unawatuna. Amal hatte durch die Tsunami 2004 mit ansehen müssen wie sein Guesthouse völlig zerstört wurde. Er hat in mühevoller Arbeit, Teile wieder aufgebaut. Wir waren für 2 Nächte dort. Die Nähe zum Wasser, die Einfachheit der Unterkunft, die außer einer Klimaanlage trotzdem alles bot und insbesondere die wirklich liebevolle Art, wie Amal seine Gäste umhegt war für uns ein besonderes Highlight an einem paradiesisch schönen Strand.
Wir waren mehr als zufrieden, für uns war das eine der schönsten Reisen, die wir in all den Jahren gemacht haben. Daran hat unser Herr Weeraman einen sehr großen Anteil. Vielen herzlichen Dank Herr P.W.P. Weeraman, meiner Frau und mir wird diese Reise mit Ihnen für immer in unvergessener Erinnerung bleiben.

Thanks a lot for a perfect journey! Even you could’t travel personal with us you gave us a perfect guide – named Asitha. Our tour was an unforgettable experience. You showed us not only the places we fixed in the tourplan but also the country and the residents. We could taste the variety of fruits and local food. Asitha was an prudent and assured driver, familiar to all places. The van was very comfortable – even we had a dust pin and napkins – and was daily cleaned. On the first Christmas day the van was decorated with garland, Christmas balls and balloons – a successful surprise!
During the first days of our journey in the north we had sometimes rain. After an agreement our guide changed the tourplan by the way that we can nearly visit all places without rain. Romesh makes often enquiries so we felt very comfortable and safe. If you think about a trip to Sri Lanka – this is the right man.

From Nov.8th to Nov.21st 2011 we travelled through Sri Lanka with Romesh.
We are still very much taken all his preparations and efforts to make the trip as efficient and pleasant for us as possible. He very much succeeded in that and we still talk about our timewith him with great enthusiasm.
Romesh does not think of money in the first place but of tourists as people who are interested to learn about his country.
He really did a wonderful job of recognizing and meeting our wishes and needs like always supporting my husband Ernst's hobby of taking photos and by surprising us with specialities of Sri Lanka and special views.
Romesh is a very safe and cautious driver, never violating any traffic rules. After three weeks of chaotic traffic in India his driving was balm for our souls.
All the hotels were well chosen and he always inspected them before we stayed there.
He is very knowledgable about his country's culture and tried to fulfill all our special wishes.
One of the highlights of our trip was our visit with his wife and his two lovely children in his sparklingly clean house, where Renu even cooked a special meal for us.
We are very grateful to him for this wonderful trip and do wish for him to have many more people to travel and experience his country with him.

Wir hatten das große Vergnügen mit Romesh zu fahren.
Von der ersten Minute fühlten wir uns wohl. Mit sehr viel Fingerspitzengefühl lenkte er sein Auto durch den teilweise chaotischen Strassenverkehr.
Voller Freude versorgte er uns mit Obst. Er gab sich alle nur erdenkliche Mühe, damit wir in Sri Lanka wohl fühlten. Gerne fahren wir wieder mit ihm.

Wir verlebten drei wunderschöne Wochen in Sri Lanka – davon zwei als Rundreise gemeinsam mit unserem Fahrer Romesh. Mit Romesh machten wir den größten Glückstreffer. Dank seiner umsichtigen und ruhigen Fahrweise gelang es uns, den „anarchischen“ Straßenverkehr zu bewältigen. Aber vor allem war Romesh ein äußerst liebenswerter und hilfsbereiter Mensch, der alles mustergültig organisierte und uns beim kleinsten Problem hilfreich zur Seite stand. Durch ihn erhielten wir auch sehr viele Hintergrundinformationen über das Leben der Menschen in Sri Lanka. Diese Infos waren für uns schon deswegen wertvoll, weil sie in keinem Reiseführer nachzulesen sind. Seine unaufdringliche Art uns zu begleiten, machten die Rundreise zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis.
So bleibt für uns die Feststellung: Wir engagierten einen Fahrer und gewannen einen lieben Freund.

We’ve been on a 10 days roundtrip with Romesh. We can truly recommend to choose Romesh to organize your holiday in Sri Lanka. Everything worked very fast and very well. He was very flexible, when we organized the trip. When we asked him to change something in the tour plan, he answered very quick with a perfect alternative. When we arrived in Colombo, he was waiting for us at the airport with a warm welcome and bottles of water. On the way he bought some fruits for us. He invited us to his house to have lunch. Even after this long journey we really enjoyed the hospitality of Romesh and his family. His wife cooked a delicious traditional meal for us. A big THANK YOU also to Romesh’s wife. It was really nice meeting you and your daughter! All the guesthouses and hotels very well chosen. We had a mix of basic guesthouses and luxurious hotels. All of them where very clean and the staff was always friendly. Also after arriving in the guesthouses/hotels, Romesh always checked if everything in the room works fine and that we enjoy our stay. Also on the spot, we could still adapt our plans and decide what we would like to do and what not. We felt confident, comfortable and very well treated during the whole trip. We saw so many interesting things and had the pleasure to discover a lot of beautiful places. If you’d like to see a bit of Sri Lanka, it’s a good a idea to have a private driver with his car. You are completely independent, you may stay somewhere as long as you like and you are free in chosing your hotels. If you’d like to do like this and if you don’t want to spend too much money on car and driver, then: Romesh is your man.
Romesh is not a good driver, he’s simply the best (indeed not the fastest). Romesh is not a good guide, he is a friend or he’s like an own son. He is very friendly, very communicative and very helpful. He knows his country, he even knows the hidden places and he has a lot to talk about stories in this wonderful country of Sri Lanka.
Dear Romesh, thank you very much for this unforgettable tour. We hope to come back soon to do a trip to Jaffna. Good luck for your business, many guests from Switzerland and good luck for you and your family.

Romesh is just the best thing that can happen to you if you visit Sri Lanka and want to make use of a private driver. He organised a 7 Day round-trip for us and he just made it perfect. Not only his driving skills in chaotic Sri Lankan traffic, but also his very charming way of helping you around are unequalled.
Romesh is a very warm-hearted, trustful guy who does not press you to go anywhere that you don't want to go. We chose not to visit the batik factories or alike and that was surely no problem at all. It was even the other way around, Romesh just knew what we possibly would like to see. In any case Romesh is easy-going and does not mind if you throw around the "official" schedule because you like to sleep out or get up at 5am to visit World's End. One thing that we were also amazed of is how keen Romesh is to keep the luxury car clean. Whatever it takes the car is washed and cleaned daily and always in an impeccable state, even if you think it was already perfectly fine.
If we ever have the chance to go around Sri Lanka again, we would hire Romesh again and can also recommend it to YOU!

11 Tage waren wir mit Romesh unterwegs. Er und sein Team sind nicht nur sehr nett, sondern auch sehr hilfsbereit und schnell, falls man im Vorfeld Fragen hat oder Änderungswünsche. Uns hat sehr gefallen, dass wir bereits einen Tag, nach dem wir sein Team mit unseren Wünschen angeschrieben haben, eine komplette Tourübersicht inkl. aller Kosten übersichtlich aufgelistet in einer Excel-Tabelle erhielten. Ebenfalls sind alle Fahrer, inkl. Wagen und Insassen, versichert, die Autos gepflegt und mit Klimaanlagen ausgestattet.
Auf unserem Weg durch Sri Lanka haben wir nicht nur faszinierende Landschaften, Tiere und Sehenswürdigkeiten gesehen, sondern auch wundervolle Menschen kennen lernen dürfen.
Vielen Dank an das gesamte Team für die wundervolle Zeit, die tolle Organisation und Unterstützung vor und während unserer Rundreise. Romesh geht individuell und spontan auf alle Wünsche ein.
Wir haben vor unserer Reise nach Sri Lanka noch ein paar wertvolle Tipps bekommen, und möchten diese an alle Interessierten weitergeben.
- Viele Kinder freuen sich über Kleinigkeiten wie Kulis, Luftballons, Seifenblasen, kleine Haribotüten, Buntstifte, Haarbänder, Schlüsselanhänger, Kreide….
- Wer sich überlegt auch Romesh, seiner Familie oder einem anderen Fahrer etwas mit zu bringen, findet hier ein paar Ideen: Salami (am besten aus Geflügel), Hartkäse oder weiße Schoki. Ein schönes Deutsches Bier macht sicher auch Freude ;O). Seine Frau ist sehr kreativ und malt sehr gerne.
P.S. Wer anschließend noch in ein ruhiges, kleines und gepflegtes Badehotel möchte, dem können wir die Panchi Villa in Bentota wärmstens empfehlen.

Wir waren Anfang Februar 2011 mit Romesh auf einer 8-tägigen Rundreise.
Zuerst einmal vielen Dank an Romesh für die sehr schönen und interessanten Tage. Wir haben das wirkliche Sri Lanka erlebt.
Romesh ist ein absolut umsichtiger und sicherer Autofahrer. Bei dem teilweise recht chaotischem Verkehr hatten wir immer ein Gefühl der Sicherheit.
Er hat sich fürsorglich um uns gekümmert und kennt sich in jeder Stadt, jeder Sehenswürdigkeit und jeder Fahrstrecke bestens aus. Angefangen bei Zwischenstopps zum Früchtekauf, bei Restaurants mit nationaler und auch internationaler Küche und bei Vermittlung von fachwissenden Guides bei den vielen Sehenswürdigkeiten, er hat immer einen "heißen" Tipp parat. Auch bei der Wahl der Unterkünfte konnten wir uns auf seine Empfehlungen verlassen.
Wir können Romesh, sowohl für eine kurze Tour, als auch für eine mehrtägige Rundreise nur empfehlen. Ganz anders als mit einer Reisegruppe und festen An- bzw. Abfahrtzeiten, geht Romesh voll und ganz auf die Wünsche und Sonderwünsche seiner Gäste ein. Auch die Verständigung in englicher Sprache war über die gesamte Dauer der Reise kein Problem.

Die vielen lobenden Kommentare - nicht nur in diesem Gästebuch, sondern auch auf anderen Wegen im Internet zu finden - waren der Grund, warum wir uns für Romesh entschieden haben. Wir haben unsere Tour (also die Orte) selbst zusammengestellt und bei Romesh angefragt. Nach kurzer Zeit kam schon ein perfekt ausgearbeiter Plan mit jeweils zwei Hotels in unterschiedlichen Preisklassen zur Auswahl. Wir haben dann noch die gewünschten Hotels und evtl. Änderungswünsche mitgeteilt - das war's auch schon. Die Kommunikation mit und Betreuung im Vorfeld durch Krisztina war auch sehr gut.
Hinweis zur Anzahlung (Auslandsüberweisung): Wählt lieber "Gebühr zahlt Empfänger" und rechnet das dann mit Romesh ab, denn die Bankgebühren in Sri Lanka sind natürlich viel niedriger als in Europa, wo eine Überweisung schon mal 40 Euro kosten kann...
Romesh sticht nochmal positiv aus den netten Menschen in Sri Lanka hervor. Er ist sehr einfühlsam und ahnt, was einem gefällt. Sein Auto ist komfortabel, er fährt sehr umsichtig.
Bei den Hotels kann man sich auf seine Vorschläge verlassen.
Wir waren zum Strandaufenthalt in Unawatuna in den "Rockside Cabanas". Sehr geschmackvoll und effizient geführt, super Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.
Ach ja, was uns auch noch beeindruckt hat: Kurz vor dem Abflug erfuhren wir so nebenbei, dass Sri Lanka überflutet sei. Leicht panisch haben wir Romesh noch eine Mail geschickt. Die beruhigende Antwort erfolgte umgehend.

wir möchten uns alle ganz herzlich für die Organisation unserer Reise bedanken.
Romesh ist wirklich eine Seele von Mensch und tut wirklich alles, damit man Sri Lanka kennenlernt und geniessen kann.
Wir waren über Weihnachten und Neujahr 2010/2011 für 2 Wochen mit Romesh unterwegs, zwei Familien mit insgesamt 3 Kindern.
Es war wunderschön, den Kindern hat es auch sehr gut gefallen, besonders der Ausflug auf dem Elefanten, aber auch Sigirya, Yala-West und die Blauwale in Mirissa.
Die Männer hatten viel Spass auf dem Golf Club Victoria in der Nähe von Kandy. Es ist ein wunderschön angelegter Platz mit tollem Service.
Das Hochland sollte man auch unbedingt anschauen, den Hills Club in Nuwara Eliya können wir besonders empfehlen, da er wirklich sehr englisch ist und man sich fühlt wie in einem alten Miss Marple Film. Insgesamt haben wir die Zeit mit Romesh und Rathna sehr genossen. Bei Rathna, der wirklich ausgezeichnet Deutsch spricht möchten wir uns nochmal extra bedanken, da es für die Kinder schön war alles in ihrer Muttersprache erklärt zu bekommen.
Wir hoffen, dass sich alle, die darüber nachdenken eine Reise nach Sri Lanka zu machen, bei Romesh melden, da es nahezu unmöglich ist einen besseren Reiseführer zu finden.

Ich kann mich Birgit und Fritz nur anschliessen und Romesh und Krisztina ein dickes Dankeschoen fuer eine wundervolle Woche "roundtrip" aussprechen. Ich war von beiden vom ersten Kontakt an begeistert. Mein erstes Angebot inklusive Reisevorschlag war binnen drei Stunden auf meinem E-Mail-Account. Auf all meine vielen Sonderwuensche sind beide schon im Vorfeld geduldig eingegangen, und das bei einer sehr kurzfristig anstehenden Reise.
Obwohl ich Sri Lanka schon von einer frueheren Reise kannte, hat Romesh mir einen ganz neuen Einblick vermittelt. Ich bin mit ihm im kulturellen Dreieck (Anuradhapura - Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa) gestartet. In Anuradhapura und fuer den "Walk" auf den Sigiriya Rock hat Romesh fuer mich eigenstaendig gegen geringes Geld einen Guide organisiert. Ihm lag am Herzen, dass ich die bestmoeglichen Informationen zu einem guten Preis bekomme. Auch hat er sich als umsichtiger Fahrer sehr verdient gemacht. Wer den Verkehr in Sri Lanka kennt, weiss wie viel das Wert ist! In Sigirya kann ich allen als Unterkunft das Jetwing Vil Uyana ans Herz legen - gebucht ueber agoda.de, bekam ich ein hervorragendes Preis-Leistungs-Verhaeltnis geboten. Eine traumhafte oekologisch gebaute Hotelanlage, in der ich mir einfach nur wohl gefuehlt habe.
In Kandy und Nuwara Eliya haben wir weitere Highlights besichtet. Romesh wusste natuerlich, wenn die Tuer zur Schatzkammer im Zahntempel geoeffnet wird und draengte schon fast, genau denn vor Ort zu sein. Es lohnt sich! Auch wenn ich muede war, Romesh trieb mich an und begeisterte mich fuer weitere Besichtigungen. Er hatte auch sehr schnell herausgefunden, was mich interessiert, war immer hilfsbereit und flexibel. Er hat mir einen sehr guten Einblick in das Leben der Einheimischen gewaehrt. So fanden unsere Mittagspausen auch durchaus am Strassenrand in der Garkueche statt oder an Orten, an denen sich kein Tourist wiederfindet. Belohnt wurde ich mit sensationellen Rice and Curries. An Rottis und Egg-Hoppern konnte ich ohnehin nie genug bekommen. Romesh hat stets sehr darauf geachtet, dass die Rast an sauberen Plaetzen stattfinden konnte. Fuer mich war diese Form der privaten Reise ein grosser Gewinn - ich bin mir sicher, ein groesserer Anbieter bietet diese Flexibilitaet nicht. Ich kann allen alleinreisenden Frauen Romesh nur empfehlen - er passt gut auf Euch auf!
Nach der Rundreise fand mein Badeurlaub in Kogalla im The Fortress statt. Ebenfalls ein tolles Hotel, in dem einem die Wuensche von den Augen abgelesen werden und man voellig entspannen kann.

Sieben Tage waren wir mit unserem privaten Fahrer unterwegs. Romesh ist ein fürsorglicher, umsichtiger und hilfsbereiter Fahrer. Auch in den teilweise gefährlichen Bergstraßen fühlten wir uns sicher und gut bei ihm aufgehoben. Sehr gern ging er auf unsere individuellen Wünsche ein und stand uns mit Rat und Tat zur Seite.
Romesh versteht sein Geschäft, kennt all die historischen und sehenswerten Plätzen und ist mit Begeisterung bei der Sache. Nie wurde er müde, uns auf Details oder schöne Stellen aufmerksam zu machen. Kaum eine Frage blieb unbeantwortet. Und wir hatten eine Menge.
Sri Lanka ist eine wunderschöne Insel deren Besuch unvergesslich in unseren Erinnerungen bleiben wird. Sie hat alles zu bieten. Den Ozean mit seinen Stränden, Seen und Flüssen - hohe Berge und jede Menge GRÜN. Das Klima wechselt von heiß und windig an der See zu kühl und windig in den Bergen – eher mediterran, was man auch wunderbar an der wechselnden Vegetation erkennen kann. Wir wurden nie satt, uns an der reichhaltigen Natur zu erfreuen.
An dieser Stelle möchten wir uns auch noch einmal recht herzlich für das Engagement und die enorme Unterstützung durch Krisztina bedanken, die unsere Reiseroute sehr kurzfristig zusammengestellt und uns viele wertvolle Tipps gegeben hat.
Nach der Tour erholten wir uns an der Küste von Galle und sind in einem, sehr empfehlenswerten Hotel – Jetwing Lighthouse – untergekommen. Dieses Hotel hat eine sehr schöne Architektur und wir wurden von dem Personal umsorgt und verwöhnt. Das Essen ist hervorragend und der Effekt wird verstärkt wenn Sie ihr Dinner im flackernden Licht der Felsen mit der tosenden und Gischt sprühenden Brandung einnehmen. Ein unvergessliches Schauspiel der Natur – ein unvergesslicher Platz.

End of February, early March 2010 we enjoyed a lovely and exciting round trip through SriLanka.
After arrival in Colombo we did an 11 days round trip by car with a resident driver and afterwards spent a few days to relax at a nice guesthouse on the beach close to Unawatuna.
The driver and the car were booked with Romesh via internet about a week in advance.
Since Romesh was on tour when we initially tried to contact him, he could not respond instantly to our e-mail, therefor Krisztina took the action to handle all our questions and suggestions and to fix our tour details; actually everything got perfectly arranged.
Unfortunatelly, Romesh was already busy with an other group for the timeframe we had planned for our tour, therefor he arranged for a friendly and experienced driver. When we arrived in Colombo everything was well arranged, hotels booked according to our suggestion and the driver and car were waiting at the airport to pick us up.
At this point I like to say thank you again to Romesh and to Krisztina for their engagement and help making our vacation so enjoyable.

As stated already at the beginning,we had a very lovely, exciting and trouble-free vacations.The country with all the ancient places, the central mountain area with its huge and impressing teeplantations and waterfalls, the sunny weather, the beautiful beaches, the friendly residents and the local food are some of the things that made our vacation just perfect.

Wir haben eine sehr schöne 10-tägige Sri Lanka Rundreise mit Romesh erlebt, die wir wärmstens weiterempfehlen können. Unsere Reiseroute war von Romesh ausgearbeitet und hat uns einen sehr guten Eindruck von Land & Leuten vermittelt. Schon während der Reiseplanung (problemlos und verzögerungsfrei über E-Mail) hat Romesh sehr schnell und flexibel unsere Wünsche integriert und einen gelungenen Mix aus Standardrundreise und individuellen Wünschen angeboten. Auch während der Reise gab es Platz für Änderungswünsche und kleine Extras mit denen Romesh auf unsere Interessen und spontane örtliche Möglichkeiten eingegangen ist. Die von Romesh vorgeschlagenen Hotels - auch die kleinen und wirklich preisgünstigen familiär geführten Gasthäuser - waren gut, sauber und sicher. Wer nicht den Luxus, sondern landestypisches und menschlische Begegnung mit Singalesen sucht, kann in den günstigen Gasthäusern schöne Tage verleben und seine Reisekasse schonen.
Romesh ist ein erfahrener, gelassener und sicherer Fahrer, bei dem wir uns im srilankanischen Verkehrschoas der Städte wie auch auf unbefestigten Pisten immer sicher gefühlt haben. Menschlich ist er ein sehr angenehmer Reisebegleiter, der mit Verstand und Humor über sein Land erzählt, hilft wo Hilfe gebraucht wird und sich andererseits im Hintergrund hält, um die Privatsphäre seiner Gäste zu achten. Wir habe unsere Reise sehr genossen und verdanken das neben dem tollen Land sicher auch der angenehmen Begleitung durch Romesh.
Das Preisleistungsverhältnis fanden wir extrem gut und die Kosten im Vergleich zu anderen Anbietern transparent dargestellt. Es gab keine versteckten Zusatzkosten und wir hatten einen sehr schöner Urlaub zu einem absolut fairen Preis. In January 2010 we enjoyed a very pleasant 2-day trip with Romesh to Yala NP. Although it was just a short tour we were delighted about Romesh' company and largely benefitted from his knowledge about his country, the Singhalese culture and traditions and hotspots along the road.
Despite of dozens of suicidal bus and truck drivers we never had the slightest reason to be afraid on Sri Lanka's busy roads as Romesh stayed miraculously calm and maneuvered safely through any burst in traffic.
We can very much recommend his services to anyone looking for a fair-priced, reliable and knowledgeable driver and to anyone who is interested in getting to know this wonderful island from an insider's perspective. Petra & Florian (from Germany)

Romesh drove us six days by through Sri Lanka. It was a miraculous tour through the highland and the mountains of Nurwara Elia to Kandy till the north to Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa. Romesh was our driver, travelling companion and tourist guide. He is a very hearty person and extremely sure driver. With him we discovered the wonderful island and the charming people.

I have done no tour in the real sense, but, however, more different one day tours, those were very good, very much individual and made privately for us. We could change any time the planed tour, or interrupt it.
I can recommend Romesh very much and would take again his services if I would visit Sri Lanka again.
